A Really Fun Scrappy Card

 Hi All!

Today I'm showing you a card that will help you use up all those little pieces of Designer Series Paper DSP) that are small, but we just can't thow them out!  The problem is real!  This card idea came from a workshop that I attended (virtual) in April.  The idea came from Jackie Bolhuis and it's so much fun to make!

What you need are 12 strips of DSP that come out of the same pack (like the 2020 - 2021 In Color 6 x 6 paper) or the In Good Taste or Peony Garden.  You get the idea.  Cut some 6 x 6 out of these, select 3 different sheets of paper.  Cut this down to 1/2 x 6" strips.  Cut a base card and a layer, cut the supporting layer add a sentiment and you are done!  Here is the card that I will be demonstrating for you.  I used the Playing with Patterns 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

I think this card is so cheerful and colorful and who doesn't need some of that now!

Here is another version of this card: same Paper and sentiment, different dies to cut out the sentiment and a different ribbon:

I've made several of these cards...here are some samples of other cards and designer series paper:

Here is the free downloadable recipe for this card:

Here is the step by step video...I promise you this card is amazing!  You can't goof it up!

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Let me know what you think and be sure to email me your cards that you have made!  I'd love to see them.

Blessings,

Sheryl

Fun with a Zany Zebra!

 Hi all!

As you may or may not know, July is birthday month in my family - we have 6 birthdays!  So I have to have a lot of birthday cards available for all ages.  This year, I made my little 4 year old granddaughter this card and I think it was so cute, I want to share it with you.  I used the Zany Zebra stamp set found on page 104 of the Annual Catalog.

I also used the Flower for Every Season 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. and the new in-color, Magenta Madness.  Here is a picture of the card that I made

Card #4 - August 2020 Class

 Good Morning!

Today is the last card in my series of 4 cards that highlight the new Winter/Fall Stampin'Up mini catalog.

This paper and stamp set is what is called, a "returning favorite".  Christmas Gleaming is the stamp set and set of ornament punches.   It may look familiar to you, but that is because is was in the 2019 Mini Catalog.  You can actually order the stamp set, the two ornament punches and the designer series paper as a bundle.  I've tried to put a new spin on it, with a paper folding technique.  Here is the card:

The frame around the center ornament is accomplished by folding back the corners of the Designer Series Paper.  I've included a template for you to use in folding back this corner so you will get consistent results:

Cut a rectangle out of whisper white paper, 1-7/8" x 2-1/2".  On the 1-7/8" side, measure down 1-1/8" and put a tick mark.   On the bottom left, measure 1/2" from left edge and put a tick mark.  Cut diagonally between the tick marks.  See my video for how I use this to create my card.

I also blinged up the envelope, using the envelope dies found in the Winter Mini, page 40.

Here is the envelope inside and outside!  This really compliments the card and makes it extra special.

Here is the recipe sheet for this card:

And here is the video......

Hope you enjoyed this series of 4 cards.  Remember to leave a comment to enter your name in the drawing of a set of these cards!  I'm giving away 4 of them - one each day!

Let me know if you have any questions on how to make these cards.  I'll be happy to help!

Blessings,
Sheryl

Card #3 of my August 2020 Card Class

 Hello again!

Today I will be showing you Card#3 in my series of 4 cards for August.  This card, unlike the others, is from a stamp set bundle found in the annual catalog.  I used the stamp set Celebrating Sunflowers.  I love sunflowers and I they remind me of fall.  The type of card I made with this is called a gatefold card.  I also used the new in-color, Bumblebee both in cardstock, ink and designer series paper.  Here is the card:

I love the contrast of yellow and black!  It looks so cheerful and autumnal.  At least to me it does.

This card is quite simple to put together.  There is some die cutting with a die cutting machine.  In my video, I show you some tips on how to make lining up the flower and the die easier.

Here is a link to the recipe sheet  :

And now the video:

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Please leave a comment and I will enter you name in a random drawing for a set of these cards!

August 2020 Card Class - Card #2

 Hi All!

Here is a fun card.  It's called a double triangle fold.  I used the really cute Warm and Toasty stamp set from Stampin'Up and the designer series paper, Heart Warming Hugs.  Both are found in the 2020 Winter Mini Catalog.

Here is the envelope that I stamped using 2 images from that stamp set:

This is a 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 card which fits perfectly into an A2 envelope.  I also used several Stampin'Blends to color the reindeer and of course I had to bling it up with Wink of Stella.  The ribbon is Real Red 3/8" Sheer ribbon.  I used several dies:  Stitched Shapes, Layering Ovals, Rectangle Stitched dies and Tasteful Label Dies.  All of the supplied are listed below.  If you wish to order, just click on the image and you will be directed to my on-line store.

Here is the video where I walk you through Card #2, step by step on how to make this card.....

Hope you enjoyed todays card.

Check back Wednesday for Card #3!

August 2020 Class is now in Session

 Hi All!

Well, after months of promises I really did it. I know I promised you all class on using up DSP, but the new Stampin'Up Holiday Catalog has so many beautiful things, I couldn't resist.  So, I've created a class featuring a few products out of the Holiday Catalog.  Like all my in person classes, I've created a PDF with all the recipes as well which you can download and print.   So I video taped the step by step in making the cards. Whew!  Video taping is not that easy.  I tried to avoid editing, but there was some things in the tape that you really shouldn't see.  I'll just leave it at that.

The theme for August is "Winter/Holiday Catalog Sampler". There are two Christmas and two Fall cards.  Here are the 4 cards that we will be making:

Tomorrow, you will see the first card from the Gilded Autumn Suite:

I'll see you tomorrow!

Blessings,

Sheryl

August 2020 Stray Duckling Blog Waddle - Fancy Folds

Welcome to the August Stampin' Stray Ducklings Blog Waddle!  I hope our samples are inspirational to you!

This months inspiration is fancy fold cards and I thought I would use product from the new Holiday Mini Catalog - so many beautiful things!

Here is my card which is called a teepee card.  It does fit, when folded into a regular A2 envelope - it looks harder than what it is:

This is called a teepee card and I got my inspriation from Angie Juda, better known as Chicn'Scratch.  She mad it into a Christmas card.  Here is a link to her video which really shows you how to make this card simply:  https://chicnscratch.com/2020/08/teepee-card.html

Here are the supplies:

Card Stock:  Cajun Craze - 3 - 4 x 4 piece scored diagonally one way, scrap for cutting the scalloped oval
Magic in this Night DSP - 2 pieces cut 3-3/4 x 3-3/4; cut in half diagonally - you will only need 3 of these
Whisper white - 3-3/4 x 3-3/4, cut in half diagonally for the inside, scrap for front sentiment

I cut out the bats from the DSP using the Halloween Night dies.  I stamped "Trick-or-Treat" on a scrap of whisper white and then punched is out using the Classic label punch.

Here is a picture of how the 3 scored squares are glued together. One on the diagonal and the other two are attached  as shown:

Glue these together, adhere on the DSP and then close the card with small magnets;  you can purchase these on Amazon.  Here is the link:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G878JHK/ref=dp_cerb_1

The size is 8mm x 1mm.  Adhere two magnets on with glue dots.  I also used the black iridescent  pearls.

All these (other than the magnets) are found in the Magic in the Night Suite, Holiday Catalog.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think of this card.  I thought it was fun and unique.  I'm going to be making more of these in the near future!

Here is the list of the bloggers participating in this months waddle.  Your next destination is: Nancy Legate

Blessings,
