A Christmas Angel

Hi Everyone!

It's almost Thanksgiving.  Can you believe it?  Where did the year go?  Seems like right after Halloween we fly into the rest of the holiday season.   We are having 10 people over this Thursday.  Wednesday is a dedicated cooking day.  I am so fortunate that my husband likes to cook and to help do the dishes.   He is in charge of the turkey stuffing and the mashed potato casserole (so good, that they are called, at least in our family, the "mashed potatoes of love".  I originally got the recipe from a good friend, Janet Haynes, who got it from her sister.  It is a winner.  Janet has since passed away, so making these potatoes always makes me think of her.  I'm also using some recipes from Gary's mother, who thankfully is still with us (she gave us the stuffing recipe),  the candied yams (Gary's dad and he will be over on Thursday), green beans Caesar (my grandmother), and herbed butter for the turkey (Martha Stewart;  no relation).  I will be using my grandmother's silverware and glassware.  So even though these people aren't physically with us, they are in our thoughts and prayers and their traditions are living on.

Today I wanted to share with you a card that I saw when I went to On-Stage.  We met a new demonstrator from our area;  she lives in Bloomington.  Her name is Laura R. and she made this card as a swap.  I thought you would like to see it:

She used paper piecing technique to get the different colors on the dress and banner.  Isn't it cute?  And this stamp set just so happens to be on sale this week - 10% off. Plus a whole bunch of other great stamp sets, kits and accessories.   You can get it in French as well. (cards seem so much more sophisticated if they are in French!).   Check it out:

Check out the entire sale by clicking on "On-Line Extravaganza" in the upper right hand column.  If you see anything you would like to order, just use hostess code:RGH4H6NR

Now I've got to get busy cooking!  Hope you enjoyed the card.  Until next time,

Sheryl

More Swaps!

Dear friends,

Here are the rest of the Stray Duckling Swaps, featuring Washi Tape.  Some of the Ducklings did not put their names on their cards, so please forgive me for not acknowledging some of the cards!

First up.....

This beauty was created by Pat H.

This is actually a covered note pad.  Isn't that neat?

Love this design.  Washi tape is rather transparent, so this Stray Duckling put her tape on a piece of white cardstock to make it stand out!

Cute use of washi tape!

And last, but not least,  here is the card created by our mama Duck, Lori H.

Lori really knows how to make an elegant card with simple materials.  She combined washi tape with the 1/8' stitched ribbon.  Very graphic and pretty!

That's it for swaps.  Today I'm teaching my last class for November.  Stay tuned for December class times.  I have two things to celebrate in these last few months of 2016. First, I reached my 10 year anniversary as a Stampin'Up! Demonstrator.  And secondly, December is my birthday month and I am reaching a milestone....I officially become a senior citizen!  Yikes.  Doesn't feel like it.  So be on the look out of special surprises in my December class.

Also, don't forget about the on-line Extravaganza from Stampin'Up!

IT’S COMING NOV. 21!  The Stampin’ Up! On-Line Extravaganza Sale with up to 40% off on select items begins November 21.  This online super sale will run from November 21 to November 28.  It’s the perfect time to stock up on holiday gifts for family and friends as well as boost and freshen your personal paper crafting stash!  This year’s Online Extravaganza will include 24-hour sales on the first and last day of the promotion with special product discounts only available that day!

Stray Duckling Swap

Hellooo!

This last Saturday, I had a demonstrator meeting.  We call ourselves the Stray Ducklings, because all of us have lost our up-lines.  Lori H. came up with the great idea of getting all of us strays together so we could share our experience and encourage each other.  It is a wonderful and supportive group.

One of the things we do, is do swaps, so we can get more ideas for our classes.  The challenge this time was to make a card using Washi Tape.  If you went to the annual Card Fair that we put on, Kelly I. did a wonderful demonstration for the many uses of Washi Tape.  It's kind of the forgotten tool.  I love using it;  I just wish I would remember to use it more often!

This week I will be sharing the cards that I received.  But first, I will show you my card that I made:

It was a bit of a fussy card to make, but fun.  I cut out the large stocking and the one with the snowflake in real red.  I then cut out the toe, the heel, the top and the snowflake with Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper.  The holly and berries were stamped in real red and old olive, then cut out with the same thinlit set that I used for the stockings.  The sentiments are from the same set.  The washi tape is the Candy Cane Lane Washi tape.  A little touch of burlap ribbon finished the card.  I thought it turned out well.

Below are the supplies that I used.  Over the next few days, I will be sharing the swaps that I received.

Hope you have a blessed day!

Sheryl

More Sneak Peeks

Good Morning!

As Paul Harvey use to say (am I dating myself?), "here's the rest of the story"

I wanted to share with you the other two samples that we made as Make&Takes which feature product from the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs.

Here is card #3:

This is a simple, cute card made with elements from the Party Animal Suite.  Check out the Party Animal Designer Series Paper, the cute little ballon charm and the brand new Emerald  Envy 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (think St. Patrick's Day).  The real surprise is on the inside.....

Isn't this just delightful?  What a wonderful surprise inside.  This was accomplished by using the brand new Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits dies.  We made a card earlier this year using a pop-up and everyone just loved it.  Very easy to do but what a wow!

Now for the last card:

This card is using some Sale-a-Bration product.  the flower paper is the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper.  Adult coloring books are really hot right now.  This paper was made for coloring;  either with color pencils or brayering.  Speaking of colored pencils, Stampin'Up is coming out with water color pencils that are WONDERFUL.  That's what I colored the flower and leaf with, and used a blender pen.  The pencils go on like silk.  The blender pen gives you the control for shading.  The sentiment is from a new stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams, which also has coordinating thinlits.  Oh my,  the Occassions catalog and Sale-a-Bration catalog has some amazing product which will bring your hand made cards to the next level.

I will be receiving my order next week.  I might even do a video showing what I received.  You just never know.....

I am really excited about the new catalog.  I hope you will be too!

Have a wonderful day!

Packaging Ideas from Stampin'Up

Good Morning!

This will be a quick post this morning.  I'm busy getting ready for my Stray Ducklings Demonstrator meeting and my classes for next week.

I love making special decorated packages for my special people.  And everybody needs a quick option for wrapping Christmas goodies and gifts this time of year, so you'll want to stock up on the Gusseted Cellophane Bags (item 142001). Just pop a treat or gift into the bag and simply add a ribbon and tag to dress it up. These food-safe 6" X 17" (15.2 X 43.2 cm) bags come in packs of 25.

Check out this video for a quick and cute packaging idea!

I love how Stampin'Up!  gives us the tools to make unique and beautiful gift wrapping.  With the  Tin of Tags kit, the coordinating stamp set (which by the way works on cards as well),  some beautiful ribbon and the gusseted bags, you can get gifts ready for the postman, your beautician, and teachers, just to name a few.

Get out your stamps and supplies and start making tags and packaging with your own unique sense of style.  If you need help, please give me a call or email me.  I'd be more than happy to help you design that perfect gift wrap.   And if you need supplies, just click on the "Shop Now' button on the right side bar and that will take you directly to my store.

Have some fun today and craft!

Sneak Peeks for Occasions Mini Catalog

Hi Stampers!

Today I will share with you the make and takes that we did over the weekend while attending Stampin'Up! Onstage in Madison WI.  At this event, they revealed the next Occasions mini catalog, which runs from January 4th through May 31st.  Along with this, they revealed the Sale-A-Bration pamphlet as well.  Sale-A-Bration will run from January 4th through March 31st.

Just in case you don't know what Sale-A-Bration is all about, this is where Stampin' Up offers selected, and unique, free product for every $50 spent (before tax and S&H).  This is our way of thanking you for being such wonderful customers!  And this year's catalog promises some beautiful stamps and paper and kits that are not only great by themselves, but also coordinate with product in the Occasions catalog and the Annual Catalog.  Win, Win!

So on with the samples!  Here is a picture of my favorite product suite:  Sending Love.  It's not only for Valentines Day!  It would make cute wedding shower invites, or even a wedding card.  Here are the three mini-notes that we made using the sending Love Designer series paper stack, the Sending love glassine sheets (super cool - can't wait to make envelopes out of this or use as a background piece), Sending Love Embellishments and the Love Notes Framelits Dies.

We used Mint Macaron, Emerald Envy and Real red.  Super cute and easy to make!  No kidding!

The next one, is also a favorite:  The Falling in Love suite.  Beautiful, beautiful Designer series paper.  Love the So Detailed thinlits as well.  this was used as a belly band around the card;

I will show you the other two cards that we made tomorrow.  Gotta keep the suspense going, don't I?

As a demonstrator, I get to see and order the product early.  This is just one of many benefits of being a Stampin'Up! Demonstrator.  Why not join my team and not only fulfill your wish list at a discount, (you will get $125 worth of product for only $99 plus a business kit) but join a wonderful group of women and men who enjoy creativity and sharing what they love!  By becoming a member of my team, you will also have membership in our local demonstrator's group called Stray Ducklings.  Here you will receive business tips and lots and lots of encouragement and help.  And you can just be a hobby demonstrator as well.   There are a lot more perks as well.   Contact me today if you would like to inquire about this or even join up!

Until tomorrow, have a blessed day and go stamp something!

Preview of the November Class

Good Morning Fellow Stampers!

I finally got my class samples made before I left for On Stage, but didn't have time to publish them on this blog.  So here they are!

I love the peeking reindeer.  The one in the upper corner uses Washi Tape and I got my inspiration from Dawn Olchefske.  (I had to look up the spelling!).  The very pretty Frosted Medallion was inspired by Kay Kalthoff.  In my class, you will make 2 cards each of three designs and each card gets an envelope.  All for $15.  Contact me today if you wish to sign up for this class.

And, because it's Christmas AND because I'm celebrating my 10 year anniversary with Stampin' Up, we are doing a bonus card with a fun fold!  This idea I got from Dawn Griffith:

This will be a fun card to put together - I'm doing the hard stuff - like cutting it out.

Hope to see you at my next class.

Blessings,

Sheryl

What I've been up to

Hello and good morning!

This past weekend I attended the Stampin' Up event called On Stage.  It's a regional gathering of Stampin'Up demonstrators where they give us inspiration and business tips.  Plus we can network with all the other Stampin' Up demonstrators - we all work together for a common goal:  to be creative, share what we love and make a difference!

In this meeting, Stampin'Up all revealed to us the Occassions mini - catalog which will go live from January 4th until May 31st.  This is also known as their Spring Catalog.  And they also revealed the Sale-A-Bration catalog!  Sale-a-Bration is where for every $50, you get to select an item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog for free!  As my husband always like to say, if it's free it's for me!  We did several Make & Takes that highlighted these products and also how the Occassions catalog coordinates with the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  Very cool.

In the next few days, I will be showing some sneak peeks of the cards that we made.  As demonstrators, we can preorder from the Occassions catalog starting December 1st.  Because I attended On Stage, Stampin has given us the opportunity to order even earlier, on selected product.  So that's what I was doing tonight.  Deciding on what I was going to order;  planning my classes for the next several months.

Unfortunately, before I left to go to On Stage, I found out that the mother on one of our church members had passed away.  When I got back on Sunday, my beautician called and had to reschedule my hair cut appointment because her father just passed away.  So I needed two sympathy cards quickly.    So here is the card I made - I made two of them and sent them off this afternoon:

This is what I put on the inside;  just a sentiment - very simple.

I got this idea from Nancy L, who is a demonstrator in the Abington area and a founding member of the Stray Ducklings.   This was her swap a couple of months ago.  I thought it was stunning and it's very easy to make.  Here is the recipe:

Stamp Set:  Rose Wonder, Corner Garden (retired), Papillon Potpourri

Ink:  Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Smokey Slate, Versa Mark

Paper:  Very Vanilla - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4; 5-1/4 x 4
             Smokey Slate - 4-1/8 x 5-3/8; scrap for butterfly

Other Stuff:  White embossing powder, embossing buddy, rhinestones, stampin' sponges

Easy enough;  ink up the Corner Garden stamp with versa mark and stamp on the smaller Very vanilla piece (after you rub it with the embossing buddy of course).  Pour on the white embossing powder and heat set it.  With sponges, put color on lightly over the embossed flowers and edge of card using crumb cake, sahara sand and smokey slate - do this very lightly!  I goofed up the first couple of times because I was too heavy handed with the sponging and putting ink on them - you can always add more ink, but you sure can't take it away.  I then stamped the sentiment on outside and inside with Smokey Slate.  Stamped the butterfly on a scrape of Smokey slate, using Smokey Slate ink - I punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly punch - attached with a glue dot and then adhered three rhinestones to the body.  Elegant and simple.

Hope you enjoyed today's card - more to come in the next few days!

Post Halloween Projects

Good Morning!

So sorry I didn't get the chance to post these things earlier. - I was so busy getting caught up at home and with my stamp business, that I didn't have time to blog.

I just wanted to share with you some of the treat holders that I made for Halloween.  I had so much fun making them,  I used three different stamp sets:Spooky Fun, Halloween Scares and Cookie Cutter Halloween.  Here are some of the samples:

And here is a bagalope.  I got this idea from Dawn Griffin:

Making and decorating these became seriously addictive!  Thank you Stampin'Up for making this so cool to do and so easy!
