Stray Duckling Sympathy Card Swap

 Good Morning, my fellow stampers,

Last Saturday, (20-January-2024) my Stray Duckling group met at the Peoria Public Library.  The Stray Ducklings are a group of dedicated and creative ladies that are Stampin’Up demonstrators in Central Illinois.  We have been meeting for over 10 years!  This group alone, is worth joining Stampin’Up as a demonstrator!  We meet monthly and share our ideas, our accomplishements and business tips.  Then we go out to lunch!  We always have a swap with a theme.  For the month of January, the theme was sympathy cards.  Not a happy subject, but one that is necessary.  Death is unexpected and it is always good to have a stash of sympathy cards on hand …just in case.

We had 9 people participate this month.  You saw my swap with my last blog post.  Here are the other 8 cards:

Sympathy Card Swap with my Stray Ducklings

 Hi everyone,

One of the great benefits of being a Stampin'Up demonstrator is when we, demonstrators get together for fellowship, idea exchanges and business tips.  I have been a member of the Stray ducklings for the past 14 years and they have been my life line for my little business.

This last Saturday we got together and did a card swap - the theme was Sympathy.  A sad but very necessary card to  have in our arsenal of cards.  I wanted to show you the card that I designed.  I'm also providing the recipe and measurements and a quick video with tips on how to make this card:

When making a sympathy card, you should always go for understated elegance and simplicity.

I used Smoky Slate, Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive for my colors.  Click on the picture below to download the free .pdf that has all the measurements.  Watch the video on how to put the card together.

Here is the video - fair warning - I'm not very good at this, but I think you will get the general idea.

I hope you enjoyed this card.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Blessings,  Sheryl

January 2024 Stampin' Stray Duckling Blog Waddle - We celebrate Sale-a-Bration!

Hi all, and welcome to this months blog waddle (hop).

This month we are featuring products found in the Sale-A-Bration pamphlet -Stampin'Up!'s once a year sale where you can earn free product with every $50 or $100 purchase.  This year, Stampin'Up features a lot of beautiful Designer Series Papers.  I've made two different cards using these papers, plus a one of the bundles.

The first card, I used the Flight & Airy designer series paper which features beautiful watercolr birds and flowers:

I made all 3 cards from one 6x6 piece of the DSP.  I used Boho blue card stock and ribbon, with Blueberry Bushel ink.  This paper can be yours free with a $50 purchase!

The second two cards is a twofer:  I used the softly stipple 12 x 12 Designer series paper ( Level 1- free with $50 purchase) and Softly Sophisticated Bundle (Level 2 - free with a $100 purchase).  The bundle includes the Softly Sophisticated stamp set as well as the Softly Sophisticated Embossing folder (which is gorgeous!) I used Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Pool Party as my color combination.

Look at the detail that the embossing folder creates!  Gorgeous!  I also added the Opaque Faceted Gems which are also free with a $50 purchase.  The colors in that pack are Calypso Coral Pecan Pie and Pool Party - perfect to go with the Softly Stippled DSP.

I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration.  Continue on with the rest of the ducklings here:
