December Blog Waddle - Merry Christmas!

Hello Friends!

Welcome to another inspirational Stampin' Stray Ducklings blog waddle.  This month's theme continues with Christmas.  Here is a cute easel card (and very easy to make)!

Using the Let It Snow Bundle, I created this quick and easy card.  I love the colors of Pool Party and Real Red together.  The base is cut at 4-1/4 x 11 and scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 in real red.  The front and inside are cut at 4 x 5-1/4, whisper white.  A bit of Let it Snow designer series paper added interest and color.  I used the layering ovals to cut out the scalloped oval in real red, and the oval for  the snowman.  I used light pumpkin pie, light black, light shaded spruce and light real red to color in the hat, scarf and nose.  I outlined the snowman in light pool party to give him an extra frosty look.

The stopper was made by using the 1" circle punch and the 3/4" circle punch.

November Stampin' Stray Duckling Waddle

Hi Everyone!

This month's inspiration Blog Waddle is all about the holidays!  What says Christmas more than a snow-globe and a shaker card!  Here is my creation, inspired by Australian demonstrator, Linda Dalke.  Here is a link to her YouTube video https://youtu.be/u_kbroAWLYs.  I changed mine up just a tad to make it easier for my class to make.

I did mine in 2 different colors that coordinate with the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer series paper.  Love that paper!  I used the champaign colored foil and used a bit of window sheet (3x3) to center the background easier.  Click here to download the free tutorial.

I adhered a few snowflakes and rhinestones to the background to give it a bit more bling and sparkle.

This card will be difficult to mail - either a really paded envelope or hand deliver!

Hope you enjoyed my card and that it has inspired you to make some.

November Class is now in Session!

Hi All!

I was really under the gun to design this class - we were in Northern Wisconsin last week and I just couldn't bring all my "stuff" to design up there.  So this last Monday, I really hit the bricks and came up with these designs for the November class:

The snow globe card is my favorite and is the bonus card for November.  Unfortunately, this is one of those cards you need to deliver in person....not sure it would make it through the mail.  The snowman card is an easel card and the other two are just pretty!

Here are the dates and times:

Tuesday, November 19th - 10am - 2pm
Friday, November 22nd - 10am - 2pm
Sunday, November 24th - 1:30 - 4:30pm

As always, the cost is $20 for 7 cards;  2 each of 3 designs plus a bonus card.  Let me know if you wish to attend.  Thanks!

Blessings,

Sheryl

Happy Halloween!

Good Morning, Friends!

Today, it's Halloween and it's snowing out.  How depressing.  But, it's still Halloween and that is fun.

I wanted to show you the treats that I made for my church's annual Trunk or Treat. The coffins are from the Holiday Catalog, and the other little boxes are from the September Paper Pumpkin!

I had a lot of fun creating these treats.  They went together surprisingly quick.  Love my Paper Pumpkin!

Here is a Halloween card that I made as well.  This design is from Julie Davison.

This was a quick and easy card to make and can be adapted to all the seasons.  The stampset used was Everything Festive and it has a lot of sentiments for Halloween, Christmas and Valentines day.  Love me a multipurpose stamp set!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my Halloween treats and keep warm!

Blessings,

Sheryl

Welcome to the Stampin' Stray Ducklings October Blog Waddle

Hello!

The Stampin' Stray Ducklings are here to inspire you this Holiday season.  The theme for our waddle this month is Fall/Halloween.

Here is my Halloween card inspired by Angie Juda, ( you can view her creation here) but with my own twist.

It's called a double Triangle fun fold.   Easy to do - just take an 8-1/2 x 11" piece of card stock and score it horizontally at 4-1/4 - turn vertical or landscape and score again at 5-1/2.  Then cut the paper diagonally in half, starting in the upper left hand corner and ending in the lower right corner.  Easy Peasy!  I think that mummy is just the cutest little monster ever!

Hope you enjoyed my card.  Next on the waddle is   Nancy Legate

World Card Making Day - 2019

Hi Everone!

Last Saturday, October 5th, was World Card Making Day.  I made cards, but it wasn't because it was World Card Making Day - it just turned out to be a happy coincidence... and therefore I am claiming it!  I designed these two cards for our We Care Team at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church.  We are sending out "thinking of you" cards to our shut ins.

Here they are:

The first card uses the First Frost stamp set - this little gem is in the annual catalog and was first introduced last year in the 2018 Holiday Catalog - it is an a beautiful stamp set and very versatile.

The second card is made with the Painted Harvest stamp set - a big favorite of mine!  The flowers were embossed and then I used a shaving cream technique that demonstrator Kim Jolley came up with - you put the ink directly on an acrylic block, then a light layer of shaving cream.  You take this and smear it over your card, then scrape off the shaving cream!  Sounds hard then it is.  It's just a bit messy.  Also, embossing the flowers is a bit time consuming.  I really would like to add this to my class schedule, but I'm afraid my ladies might throw things at me in frustration.  I might have a coffee and cards and this would be the only card we make.

Hope you enjoyed my cards!  I plan on designing Thanksgiving and Christmas cards for our shut ins and invite the ladies of the church to  help make them and join in the fun of card making!

Stay tuned tomorrow for our October Stampin Stray Duckling blog waddle.

Blessings,

Sheryl

Fall Is In The Air - Stamping Stray Duck Waddle

Hi All!

How do you like our new name?  Stampin' Stray Ducklings!  We are no longer strays, because we have a strong bond with each other.  The Stray Ducklings was formed by demonstrators that no longer had an upline.  Our Mama Duck, Lori, brought us all together and together we are awesome!

This month, we are featuring fallish cards.  The card that I'm showing you today is the one I designed for our September Stampin' Stray Duckling Meeting swap.  I'm not sure what possesed me, but I think I made one of the most complicated cards in my life!  And it wasn't so much the flip/flap mechanism, but all the detail that I put in to it.

The apple was first punched out with the apple builder punch.  Then I sponged it in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I used the Stamparatus and stamped the outline of the apple and the highlight, in Early Espresso.  Not done yet.  I liked the white outline of the apple, so I punched out a 2nd apple in whisper white, trimmed down the sponged apple and glued them together.  I stamped and punched out 3 green leaves, and punched out one stem in Early Espresso. The apple slice was created with the stamp and then colored with Stampin' blends and fussy cut out.  You can use the apple builder punch, but I found it easier to just hand cut it.

I also used the buffalo check background stamp with Early Espresso Ink on Cherry cobbler card stock and mounted this on a layer of Old Olive.  The stitched squares were created by using the Stitched Shapes dies.(3 different sizes) The sentiment "Friend" was punched out with a punch.  All in all I used 4 punches, 3 dies, 4 Stampin'Blends, 1 Stampin' sponge and 6 different card stocks.  I was exhausted after making these!

They definitely will have to go to a very special friend and probably hand delivered because the card is a tad  thick!

Hope you enjoyed today's card.  Next stop is Stampin' Stray Duckling:  Nancy Legate

Another Holiday Catalog Peek - Still Scenes

Hi All!

The Stampin'Up Holiday catalog is so chockfull of wonderful ideas, that I just have to share.  This is another one of my favorite stamp sets.

Still Scenes makes your card look like a snow globe - the dies are great too - a small church, a mama and baby polar bear, and a beautiful base that looks gorgeous with gold or silver foil:

Here is a great video from Stampin'Up to inspire you even more!

Check out Pinterest for more inspiration.  If you buy both the stamp set and the dies, you save 10%.
This one will definitely be showing up in my classes!

Sheryl

July Stray Duckling Waddle (Blog Hop)

Hi All!

This month the Stray Ducklings waddle theme is a continuation of the new items in the catalog.
Here is what I designed using the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp set and our wonderful Note cards!

Have I ever told you how much I love our notecards?  They are 5 x 3-1/2, come in a package of 20 cards and 20 envelopes for only $7.  And they can be mailed without additional postage or special handling!

I used the Magnolia Lane designer series paper as a layer and I also fussy cut out the flowers which are also part of the DSP.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Memento and  cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.   The Basic Black Card stock was cut at 3-1/4 x 4-3/4 and the DSP layer was cut at 3 x 4-1/2. And of course, I had to put a little bling on it to finish it off.

Here is the inside of the card.  Again, I used the magnolia bud in the stamp set, and using my Stampin'Blends, colored the leaves with light Mossy Meadow and a touch of Petal Pink on the bud itself.  If you color lightly, and because of the thickness of the card stock, it won't bleed through to the other side.

I hope you enjoyed my little card.  The next stop on the blog waddle is:
