September Thank You Cards - a Farewell to Sale-a-Bration 2021

 Hi All!

I love our notecards (20 notecards, scored and 20 envelopes - $7-wonderful bargain).  They are just the right size and don't require additional postage.  So this month, as a final farewell to Sale-A-Bration 2021, I designed this card:

This stamp set is the Delicate Dahlias (free with $100 order).  The image and the sentiment are from that stamp set.  Dahlias have a special place in my heart...my oldest son runs a flower farm in Colorado and his specialty flower is Dahlias.  He grows many different varieties and colors and he is an expert in their care and growth.  Here is just a sample of the beautiful bouquets that he sells at the local farmers market every Sunday.  The name of his business is Big Horn Blooms.  Here is a link to his FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/BighornBlooms

September 2021 Stray Ducklings Blog Waddle - I'm falling for Fall!

 Hello Friends!  

Welcome to another Stray Duckling Blog Waddle (we waddle, we don't hop).  

This month we are celebrating fall and/or Halloween.  The card that I designed, I got my inspiration from Diane Evans, a demonstrator in Canada. Here is the link to her post.  Click Here to view. 

Here is my card - I used gold foil paper and Dark Cherry Cobbler,  Dark Evening Evergreen and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin' Blends and 91% alcohol to make this unique card.  I also used the little fence from the Sheep Sale-a-Bration die set (free with a $50 order), because, like bacon, everything looks better with a cute little fence.  

I got the idea to use the scrapes from the cut out of the tree canapy from one of my customers.  In fact she's the one who directed me to this technique.  Thank you Cathi!

The Technique:  I took a piece of foil that would fit the canopy die (2-3/4 x 3-1/2), and randomly scribbled the three colors on it with Stampin'Blends - then I took a paint brush, dipped in the 91% rubbing alcohol(must be at least 91% - anything lower has too much water in it) and dabbed it on the foil.  I pretty much saturated it.  Then you set it aside and let the magic happens as it dries.   The alcohol markers dissolve with the alcohol leaving a very pretty and interesting pattern.  Once it is dry, I cut out the tree canopy using the Beautiful Tree dies.  Save those little pieces that pop out.  I used those on the small stamped tree image for the inside.   The tree on the front of the card was die cut out of Early Espresso, again using the Beautiful Tree dies.  The background is the Beauty of the Earth DSP, found in the 2021-2022 annual catalog.  

The gold foil in combination with the colors makes the tree come alive.  At least that's what I thought.  

I embossed in gold the sentiment on a scrape of Early Espresso and cut it out with the small frame die found in the Beautiful Tree Dies set.  My bad, I used a retired stamp set for the sentiment - but it fit!

          Stampin'Blends - Dark Cajun Craze, Dark Cherry Cobbler, Dark Evening Evergreen

Card Stock:

          Gold foil Sheet - 2-3/4 x 3-1/2

          Merry Merlot - 4-/14 x 11, score @ 5-1/2

          Beauty of the Earth DSP - 4 x 5-1/4

          Early Espresso - 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 for die cut tree trunk; 1 x 2 for front sentiment- heat embossed

          Cinnamon Cider - 2 x 3-1/4 to die cut fence - sponge edges lightly with Early Espresso Ink

          Basic White - 4 x 5-1/4

Sale-A-Bration August Thank You Cards for my Customers

 Hi all!

I made this thank you card for those who ordered from me in August, and it was so cute, that I thought I would share it with you.  Plus, I'm using that adorable sheep stamp found in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  Free with a $50 order!

Here is a picture of it close up, plus what I stamped on the inside:

The size of the card is a bit unique - it's only 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 - the perfect size to slip into an order ready for delivery.  It will also fit into a note card size envelope.  It's the ideal size - I can get 4 cards from one 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of Basic White card stock.  On the 8-1/2 side, I score at 4-1/4.  I then turn the card stock to the 11" size and cut every 2-3/4"  It comes out evenly to 4 cards which are already scored.

I colored the little sheep with Stampin'Blends light Smokey Slate.  I gave him a cute pink nose using light Flirty Flamingo.

September 2021 Class is now in Session

Hi All!

We are almost back to normal with classes...at least I hope it stays that way.  I've got 3 class times for you to sign up for.  The theme for this month is Fall and Halloween and I think the cards are really pretty and fun to make.  Here is what we will be making:

 The first card - the monochrome card in Midnight Mist, was a CASE from Linda Bauwin, Stampin'Up Demonstrator in Ohio.  It was such a pretty card, I copied it exactly from Linda's blog.  The stamp set used and the Designer Series Paper is part of the Harvest Meadow Suite, found on page 54 of the Holiday Mini Catalog.

The second card, I used the Pretty Pumpkins Bundle (pg 48).  Being from Morton, I have a real affinity for Pumpkins.  That beautiful cork paper is also found in the Holiday Mini.  

The third card, is the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle, (pg 47).  You'll use a technique to get those leaves multi colored.  This is a beautiful and simple card to make.  

The last card, is Halloween and is a fun fold - a tower pinwheel.  This was my first experience with this type of card fold and I can honestly say, it's the most fun card to decorate!  I used the paper and the punch from the Cute Halloween suite, the Clever Cats stamp set, and the Frightfully Cute bundle.  I just punched and die cut a bunch of stuff, stamped a bunch of sentiments and then just put it together.  Each card looks different.  

In my class, you will make 2 of 3 designs (the Meadow Flower, the leaves and the pumpkins) and 1 bonus card (the Halloween tower card).  All come with envelopes and instructions on how to recreate these cards at home.  Price is $20.  

Time and Places:

• Thursday, September 16th - my home - limit of 6 people
• Time:  10am - 2pm
• Tuesday, September 21st - my home, limit of 6 people - 2 openings still available
• Time:  10am - 2pm
• Friday, September 24th - Morton Christian Church - no limit
• Time:  10am - 2pm

Please RSVP as soon as possible and no later than September 10th.  

Bring your favorite adhesive and paper scissors, a drink and a sack lunch if you would like.

August 2021 Stray Duckling Blog Waddle - A New Sale-a-Bration!

 Welcome friends to another Stampin' Stray Duckling inspirational blog waddle!

July Stray Duckling Blog Waddle - Summer

 Hello again!  Welcome to another inspirational Blog Waddle by the Stray Ducklings of Central Illinois!

This month's theme is anything that means summer to us.  For me, it's birthdays!  We have SOOO many birthdays in June, July, August and September...June 28th, youngest granddaughter, July 11th, my oldest granddaughter, July 12th- my oldest son, July 18th, my husband, July 28th my youngest son, July 29th my grandson.  My dad's birthday was also on July 29th.  August 3rd, my brother-in-law, August 13th another grandson, August 24th, my daughter-in-law and in September on the 7th and 13th - 2 more grandsons.  Wow!

So I'm going to show you some birthday cards that I have made for various grandchildren, children,  and acquaintances.  

Here is the first one:  A little Puffin and tie Die... made with the delightful 2021 in-colors of Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia.  

The second card, I actually sent to my aunt who turned 92 in May.  I just wanted to remind her that she is still a spring chicken!

The third card is a fun fold flip card and using one of my favoirte stamp sets and punches - sweet ice cream!

I want to show you is one I made for my 5 year old granddaughter.  It's a diamond pop-up card and believe it or not, she was impressed...warning - I used a retired stamp set.

The last card is what I made for my 9 year old granddaughter.  My first pet was a turtle...his name was Wiggles.  Here's to you Wiggles and Maelyn!
