A Guy Type Thank You Card

Good Morning!

Look at me.  Blogging for a second day in a row.  Will wonders ever cease?

Today I wanted to share with you a card that I made for my 12 year old grandson.  It's made with retired product, but I thought it turned out so well!  I used the crumb cake note cards and envelopes as my card base.  The note cards, both whisper white and crumb cake are the best deal in the annual catalog;  20 cards and envelopes for $6!  The card stock is heavy too.  They are perfect for the quick little card that you need to make.  They also go through regular mail without extra postage!  Last February I did a class where all we did was stamp and decorate notecards, and then we made a box to put them in.  Everyone loved it!

About my card:  I used the 2013-2015 InColors, other than the Blackberry Bliss (I couldn't find it at the time - Yikes!).  And I used Tuxedo Black for the skater.  Mossy Meadow was the frame and very vanilla for the front and inside of the card.  Here it is:

I'm off tonight doing a card make & take for the Peoria Chapter of the PEO.  Sunday I have my shoe box swap.  Lots of stamping going on in my world.

2015 Stampin' Up Holiday Catlalog is NOW! Plus Peoria Stamp Fair News

Good morning fellow stampers.   Lots of great news this morning!

First of all, the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog is available for you to order from.  Click on the link in the side bar to view it on line.  If you are a customer of mine and have not yet received a catalog from me, please email me and I'll be sure you get one.

Secondly - You can now register for the 2nd Annual Peoria Area Stamp Fair!!  What is this you say?  A group of local Stampin' Up Demonstrators have gotten together to offer you, our customers a fun filled Saturday full of surprises, and of course stamping.
        When::  Saturday, November 7th, 2015
        Where:  - Northwest United Methodist Church
        Time;  there are two identical sessions - Session I is from 9 - 11:30
                                                                         Session II is from 12:30 - 3
There will be displays, hands on demonstrations, a retired stamp store, make and takes and lots more!

I'm Baaack! And New Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog is Live!

I'm finally back and I hope to be blogging on a regular basis from now on.   It's not that I haven't been stamping... I have, with a vengence!  I've been holding my regular monthly classes, I have recently done a workshop, I'm the program for the Peoria Chapter of the PEO this coming Wednesday and  I've got a shoe box swap with other demonstrators this Sunday.  I'm really looking forward the to swap on Sunday...all of us will be bringing a designed card from the new Stampin' Up!Holiday catalog (to go live on 9/1/15).  Out of that I will have some lovely samples to share with you, which I hope inspire you to make Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards!

Today I want to share with you a card that we made at a recent workshop.  Really easy, but I feel elegant and can be for guys. 

 

 

I used the new stamp set in the 2015-2016 Catalog, "I Think You're Great!"( pg. 130 AC, 138712).  It's a stamp set designed for the "kissing" technique.  This is where you take a solid stamp and "kiss" it against a stamp with a detailed design.  I also used several new products;  the new triple banner punch (pg. 165 AC, 138292) to create my 3 banners.  The striped paper is the new envelope paper (pg. 149 AC, 138312) in the 2015-2017 In Color.

April Classes

My 3-D class that was held on Sunday, March 22nd, was a great success.  Everyone thought the projects were super cute and not hard to make at all.  The bound coaster books were the big hit.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the place that I ordered them from.  It was so long ago!  I'll keep searching and when/if I find it, I will let you know.  The binding machine I used is called the Bind-It-All and I bought it on Amazon.com. 

The April classes will be all about Occassions:  baby, wedding, birthday, graduation and sympathy.  Here is a sneak peek;

The sentiment may change, but here is the card.  It's made using a stamp set from the annual catalog, "An Open Heart".  It has beautiful images as well as great sentiments.  The bottom of the card was stamped with the background stamp "Hardwood", also found in the annual catalog. 

Be sure to contact me to sign up for this class.  You will enjoy it!  As always, you can either come to my house, or I will take the class to your house.  If you have it in your house, invite some friends for a few hours of creativity, fellowship and fun.  You will be the hostess and receive any hostess benefits on orders of $150 or more, plus you will receive a thank you gift from me!

St. Patrick's Day Treat Recap

Good Morning!

Today I thought I would share a little treat I made my customers for St. Patrick's Day.  I also made these for my grandson Cody's teachers.  Never hurts to treat a teacher, especially when you are a boy in 5th grade.  You need all the help you can get.

Aren't these cute?  I cased this from Brenda Quintana.  Check her out on YouTube to see how to make these darling little shamrocks and 4 leaf clovers.  I used Old Olive card stock, and for my stamps I used Teeny Tiny Wishes and A Dozen Thoughts.  I wraped them up with Old Olive Bakers Twine.  Very easy and addictive to make.  I finally ran out of Hershey Kisses, so I had to stop.*

Demonstrator Meeting and Swap

Last Saturday I went to our local Stampin' Up Demonstrators meeting.  We call ourselves the "Stray Ducklings" because none of us have a direct upline.  So we get together, talk business and Stampin' Up news.  One of the highlights of the meeting is when we do card exchanges.  We had 17 people participate in this one.  The only requirement was that it be something from the 2015 Occassions catalog or the annual catalog.  Everyone outdid themselves with their cards.  Over the next few days I will post some of these cards.  Today I'm showing you my swap.  I call it Painted Butterfly's.  I CASEd it from Becky Cowley, Scarp Junkie.com.  I used Whisper White card stock, and using the Butterfly thinlits, I cut out the center.  I then cut out a 4 x 5 1/2 piece of whisper white card stock and using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, I stamped 4 colors;  Pear Pizazz, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey and Bermuda Bay.  I popped this behind the butterfly cut out with dimensionals and glue dots.  The sentiment is from the stamp set A Dozen Thoughts.  The tie is made from the burlap ribbon- I cut off one of the finished edges and then pulled the threads off.  Using two, I made a bow and attached with a glue dot.  I hope you like my swap!

Another lovely day of Spring in Central Illinois.....

Well, it's still frigidly cold here in Illinois.  Spring has yet to sprung.  I'm working on samples for my upcoming classes.  I think one of the most challenging things for me is organizing all my "stuff ".  I spend more time trying to find things than actually working on cards!  That's one of my big goals for the second quarter is to get my Stamping stuff in order (and off the floor, I'm ashamed to admit).  Here's another card I'm thinking of adding to my All Occassions class.  It's called a tent topper card.  It fits in a standard envelope.  Pretty and very easy to make with minimal fuss. 

 One thing I didn't mention yesterday was that I will customize any class to your needs.  You just bought a stamp set and need some help using it?  I'd be glad to pull some samples together to help you get the most out of your stamp set.  Just bought a Big Shot?  I can do a class demonstrating the various dies and framletts that Stampin Up has to offer, plus cards and projects.

I also offer Stamping 101 to new stampers and experienced stampers alike.  I'll show you the different kind of stamps that Stampin Up has, we'll go over the different inks and how to store them.  In the process we'll make some really cute cards as well.  After all, the basic requirements for making beautiful cards is ink, paper and stamps.
