March 2026 Blog Waddle - Techniques!

 Howdy everyone!

This  month our Stray Ducklings will be showcasing different techniques to make your card making experience enjoyable and give that little something something to your creations.

I had a blog post already written, when inspiration hit me!  Yesterday I had lunch at some friends house and they served lunch with some very pretty napkins.  I loved the look of the napkin and brought it home.  I wanted to send this couple a thank you card for their hospitality and what better way then to make a card out of their napkin!  I love using pretty paper napkins to make cards and this is the technique I am sharing with you today.

Here is the napkin:  I immediately saw Blueberry Bushel and Poppy Parade (I have a tendency to see all colors through the Stampin'Up ink lens!)

I took the napkin and cut it down.  I then separated the layers - you only want one layer on your card.  This one happened to be 2 ply, but some are three ply.

I then cut white card stock to 3/34 x 5 and using a glue stick (UHU is the best - found on Amazon) attached the single layer of napkin.  Glue sticks work the best and placing the napkin face down and lowering the paper on to it work best as well.  Then I trimmed the sides, and added adhesive around the back edge and carefully folded the napkin over the edges.

Since the napkin design is the focal point, all I had to do was add the sentiment.  Easy card that will wow the person getting it.  The card base is Blueberry Bushel and the layer is Poppy Parade.  I used a punch for the sentiment and Poppy Parade behind the label.

I had intended today, to clean up my stamp room, but then I ended up making these two cards.  The room is still a mess!

I hope you enjoyed my card technique.  Please visit my fellow ducklings down below and see what interesting techniques they have to offer!  - Blessings,  Sheryl

February 2026 Stray Ducklings Blog Waddle -

 Hey there!

This month we are getting sketchy!  That is, we are using a card sketch to design our cards! I used a sketch from Stampinpretty.com.  I was attracted to the symmetry and the layering.  Here is the sketch:

The layers were:
                            4-1/4 x 5-1/2 - card base
                            4 x 5-14
                            3-3/4 x 5
                            2 x 5
                            3 x 3
                            2-1/2 x 2-1/2
                            2-1/2 x 1/2

Since it's almost Valentine's Day, I thought I would make a card using this sketch:

You can use any cardstock, designer paper and dies that you have on hand.  I used the fabulous Endless Love bundle which has some really nice dies and bold sentiments in it.  All my supplies are listed below.

I put my own spin on this card by making it an easel card - I cut the card base 4-1/4 by 11 and scored it at 5-1/2 and 2-3/4.  I just adhered the front panel to the bottom of the card.  Don't forget to put a stopper on the inside though!

I may or may not have gotten carried away on the inside of the card, but hey, it's Valentines Day.  You have to go all out!

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Be sure to visit my other fellow ducklings for their sketchy inspirations!

Blessings,  Sheryl

New Catalog Product - January 2026 Stray Duckling Blog Waddle

 Hi all,

Stampin'up just released their new Spring mini catalog and it's got some great stuff in it.  I decided to go with Valentine Day, since that is right around the corner.  Here is my fancy fold card:

I used the new Endless Love Stamp set and dies.  Along with that, I used the Made with Love 12 x 12 Designer series paper.  Card stock was Basic white, Real Red, and Flirty Flamingo.  I also embossed the one heart with the Beautiful Pattern 3-D embossing folder, which is a on-line exclusive.

The card bows out in a diamond shape to not only show off all the pretty DSP, but also to stand for display.  It's called a Diamond Pop-Out card. I CASE'd this card design from Susan Campfield.  Here is the link to her video on YouTube where she shows you how to make this card.  Click Here

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Please continue on to the next blog for some more January card inspirations!

Blessings, Sheryl
